. . . And another thing
It's been quite some time since we checked in on the Chaos and Drama at casa de Hollywood and things have been relatively normal. The key word here is 'relatively.' I have one thing to apologize for, the lame names I have been inventing. I have set down an entire list of characters and given them some more creative names. We must protect the innocent but not at the expense of creativity.
As an answer to those who had questions, up to now the kids are mostly alright. I am about to introduce several new characters with families so we'll see how it goes. To the reader who suggested I lock the door and stay away from the chaos, you sound like my brother, are you my brother? Do you know my brother? I'm trying to walk that fine line between sanity and being a good neighbor. And yes, up till a year or so ago, I had no idea these kind of people actually existed in the numbers they obviously do. My eyes have been opened and I am trying to comprehend what I am seeing by writing it down.
Back to our story. A successful trip to the airport finally got the car. It cost $225 to bail it out plus $30 for gas for the ride. A nice (?) neighbor finally gave in and drove down. As soon as the car was back the parade of characters began anew. Doug's van, or the van he was drivin', stayed in Brighton for a while because Doug couldn't get a ride down, or license plates for the ride back.
Meanwhile, a family from the past has resurfaced. It may be best to go back a ways and explain how this family fits in. They are pretty important characters and contributers to the entire concept of C&D.
Every good story has a starting point. This one was almost three years ago. A pretty nice lookin' redhead moved in across the ally from me. I kinda kept an eye on her but nothing happened. Either I was too stupid (read shy) to make a move or she was too aloof (read I thought she was out of my class or had some biker boyfriend).
Tim, a certifiable psycho with a mail order wife and heavy ordinance in the garage lived upstairs at the time and he was friendly with the whole neighborhood. His wife got a job at the hospital so they had to move to within walking distance since she was the only one with a supporting them. As a part of his neighborliness he induced the redhead — I didn't know her name yet — to think about moving into the upstairs of casa de Hollywood. She was a bit reluctant so he brought her over to see/meet the troll in the basement. At the time Tim had been making himself at home in my house fairly regularly so one day he comes traipsin' downstairs with Patricia and her ten year old daughter Madeline in tow.
Of course I was sans leg, in my Lazyboy watching TV so I couldn't stand up or even turn around. I started some harmless chatting with mom and daughter so they would know even trolls had manners when necessary. Madeline had a couple of her little friends with her and they eyed my apartment with an Indiana Jones excitement. "Here are treasures we can make ours if we could just outfox that old troll."
Anyway, they ended up movin' in upstairs. Along with Madeline came several friends who all thought my place was an amusement park with free goodies. More about that later.
Wow, I didn't get to the family that moved in to Patricia's old place across the ally. They had been gone for a while during the last narration and have recently resurfaced. Their arrival in the scheme of things is where C&D really started. Another single mother, Karina, with two children, Sabrina, 8 and Bartholomew (Bart), 10. For reasons that will become known later, Karina was related to Manny who lived across the parking lot and had friends in the church (on the corner) hierarchy who oversaw these properties and gave the families an easy deal on rent. Manny had two daughters, Kachina, 9 and BayLee, 16.
Manny's current wife was in a hospice and wasn't long for this world. Karina, Manny's daughter had come to help with the family during the sad time. Karina was sister to Kachina and BayLee so Sabrina and Bart were their aunt and uncle. Other than the age thing they all got along fairly well at first. The three younger skids could hang out, the 16 year old did her own thing and Karina and Manny got along because they had a common concern, the dying wife/stepmom.
Do you want to know all the pet names too? Three dogs, two cats, a couple of rats and strays from all over the neighborhood. Both the four and two legged variety. Maybe next time. This is becoming a big character list. I better let all this soak in first. Chapter four will be up shortly.

Chaos 'n' Drama Chapter II
. . . And another thing
Chaos and drama continues at casa de Parro rental. Pat came home from Texas and began freaking out over all the stuff her ex boyfriend did while she was gone. Including his other girlfriend and another friend's wife. Pat's laptop was missing, supposedly taken by another guy, Jerry, in exchange for something? He left a bunch of stuff in the garage and that is being held hostage till the laptop gets back. However, in order to get into the garage Jerry had to take the hinges off the door so Pat wants to take everything that is valuable into the house so Jerry can't get his hands on it till she gets the laptop back. Meanwhile, stupid ol' me is loaning Pat a laptop.
Bob is still in jail but had to go to court today for violating a prior restraining order Pat had on him for breaking her nose while they were living together several years ago. He was living with her upstairs off and on for several months. Maybe I should volunteer as a witness for the prosecution? A few weeks back, after he got arrested for the violation, Pat decided to lift the order. According to the cops who arrested Bob the other night the order still exists but it is a 'full contact restraining order.' Huh??? A full on oxymoron if ever I heard one.
Oh, did I mention the cops asked me about a meth lab in the garage. A friend of mine was the supervisor who showed up that night and asked me seriously if there was a meth lab in the garage or the house. Someone told them there was.
Bob's other girlfriend and Pat were going out to the jail to try and get the keys so they could all go to the airport and get the car. They couldn't go before this because, although there were several vehicles available there were no license plates to put on them. Don't you hate when that happens?
For those of you who don't understand that license plate thing, around here license plates are interchangeable depending on what vehicle is being used. Dour was going to the airport to pick up Pat and was stopped on the way back and had to leave his van in Brighton because it had the wrong plate on it. It's a good trick as long as you don't get caught.
That's about it for today. Stay tuned.

Chaos 'n' Drama Chapter I
. . . And Another Thing
For this initial post I'm gonna just start a little story and see where it goes.
So, I live in the basement of a house. I have been here a long time mostly because the rent can't be beat. There have been a continuing stream of people living upstairs and we usually get along.
The current resident of rental casa de Hollywood is a single mother with a pretty good job and a bunch of problems. I'll call her Pat. Rather than detail the problems I will merely describe the evening.
Pat is in Texas visiting her relatives. Her on and off boyfriend, Bob, has the keys to the house and has been staying off and on while she is gone Before she left she told me nobody was supposed to be in the house. She gave Bob the keys and must have told him it was OK, I don't know.
They have been fighting back and forth over my phone for the entire trip. Bob can't afford to keep his own cell phone running so he took hers. He can't find the charger. He needs to borrow mine all the time.
Bob drove her to the airport and lost the car in the paring lot. The car was found the next day but Bob was already back in Greeley and didn't have the money or transportation to get the car out of the airport parking lot anyway. It is costing $18 dollars a day for the car to be there but no one but me seems to be concerned about that.
(I don't drive so I couldn't help with this crisis.)
So I was upstairs with Bob because he was using my phone. I didn't ask who or why. Pat had told me at various times to call the cops if he was in the house. I tried to call her to confirm and all she wanted to do was talk to him. So I had to let him use my phone.
There was a knock on the door and Bob told me to answer it. It was two of Greeley's finest. They wanted to know who was in the house. When I told them they came in and handcuffed Bob. They knew he had a warrant out and they were also called about someone breaking into the house. They said Pat's brother from Texas called. No one believes that so the mystery now is which of several players made the call?
Pat is coming home and wanting to get Bob out of jail. That's not happening. Bob is in for 180 days. Something about some child support with his first wife. Bob's other girlfriend, Martha, called to warn him about the cops outside but she was too late. Pat is at times wanting to put Martha in jail and at other times inviting her over.
I'm pretty sure we haven't heard the last of this saga so I will continue tomorrow. Stay tuned.
